FLORAL DESIGNER & STUDIO MANAGER

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years minimum floral experience in a design shop

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experienced and well-versed in all areas of event floral design

  • Efficiently produce mass quantities of centerpieces, small personals, altar arrangements, bouquets, etc

  • Assist in coordinating and preparing for each event

  • Lead small team on event day | Manage execution of weekend events

  • Assist with business process developments

  • Assisting prepping and processing flowers

  • Keep studio tidy

  • Organize floral task boards and post mood boards

  • Work with owner to organize and distribute design responsibilities and jobs

  • Manage studio and hardgood needs

  • Make sure studio is ready for design days, work stations are clean and ready and designers have recipes and tasks

  • Any other tasks the owner deems necessary

DESIREABLE QUALITIES:

  • Possess a modern design aesthetic or the ability to produce or learn modern design

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Possess an excitement for creativity

  • Must work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Must be able to create arrangements from inspiration images and design notes

  • Must work well with a team and have a team-player kind of attitude

  • Must take direction and critiques well

  • A good sense of color, design style and able to work in a fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Fast paced working environment

  • Lift moderately heavy loads up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat

  • Able to stand for long periods of time

  • Able to push/pull heavy loads

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday | 8/8:30a-4:00p

Tuesday | 8:30a - 4:00p

Wednesday | OFF

Thursday | 8:30/9:00a-5:00p* (until designing is complete)

Friday | 8:30/9:00a – 5:00p* (until designing is complete)

Saturday – Hours Vary (Typically 5-8 hours) | Set-up is mandatory when events are scheduled

Sunday – OFF | *Unless events are scheduled

Additional Notes:

  • One-hour lunch unpaid or option to work-through lunch

  • Busy event weeks/weekends may require you to stay after 4p during the week. Typically, no later than 7p. We should know these weeks in advance and will work around personal commitments.

COMPENSATION:

Pay Type: Hourly

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly | Direct Deposit

Rate of Pay: Starting at $14/hour | Compensation based on skill, experience, and design ability

Paid Vacation & Holidays:

  • 10 Days Paid Vacation after 6 months of employment (must be approved in advance by owner | Ideally not taking it on busy week/weekends if it can be avoided)

  • 10 Days Unpaid to use at employee’s discretion (must be approved by owner in advance or with due notice)

  • Paid Holidays Off (that don’t conflict with events):

    • New Year’s Day

    • 4th of July

    • Labor Day

    • Memorial Day

    • Thanksgiving Day

    • Christmas Eve

    • Christmas Day


*This job reports directly to the owner, but teamwork is imperative. This person will interact with all employees and must be a team player.
